Description (last modified by nutomic) (diff)

Ships should be turning way faster. It's almost impossible to hit fast enemies.

Also, there should be some way of breaking. I know it's unrealistic, but as it is not possible to accelerate infinitely, I think it is ok. This would make landing way easier (not flying over a planet three or more times until you hit). Might not be necessary if turn speed is fast enough).

This would also fix the fact that the ship will turn to the left side if you hold the down button (makes no sense).

The turning speed is different for different ships. I think that it should be difficult to hit fast ships: that's the point of being fast.

I don't like the idea of breaking, but I agree that the turning around could be easier.

Pressing down does not 'turn left' but instead makes the ship 'turn around' to point in the direction opposite of their current momentum. This makes it possible to zero out your momentum without breaks: hold down until you're pointing in the opposite direction, then press forwards and slow down to zero.

What about if we made the 'turn around' key work faster? (Instantly?) This might be a bit too hard to 'teach' the AI how to do well though.

What if instead of turning we did an Immelmann_turn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immelmann_turn) to flip the ship upside down and twist Starfox 64 Style? I don't think we have a good way of doing the ship animations, but it would be cool and more obvious than watching your ship slowly 'turn left'.
